What "Schismatic" means - and why Base
Schismatic /skɪzˈmætɪk/ - someone who creates a schism: a division born of different beliefs.
SHIB on Ethereum launched in 2020 under the pseudonym Ryoshi as a decentralized community experiment. It grew into one of the best-known tokens on Ethereum - where every on-chain swap pays Ethereum mainnet gas fees. Schismatic Shiba is a separate community token of the same name on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2.
Schismatic Shiba is the split. The same spirit of loyalty and fun, rebuilt on Base - an Ethereum Layer 2 with low fees and fast finality - with a contract with a built-in auto-burn: on sells, it sends 0.01% of the liquidity pool's token balance to the burn address, at most once every 12 seconds, with no tax on trades. Not a copy. An evolution.
Why Base
- Lower fees. Base transactions typically cost a small fraction of what the same trade costs on Ethereum mainnet.
- Faster blocks. Base produces a block about every 2 seconds; Ethereum about every 12.
- Ethereum-anchored. Base is a Layer 2: it posts its transaction data to Ethereum mainnet.
The contract
SHIB on Base lives at 0xFCa95aeb5bF44aE355806A5ad14659c940dC6BF7 on Base Chain. Its automated burn mechanism sends 0.01% of the liquidity pool's token balance to the burn address on sells, at most once every 12 seconds - roughly a third of max supply is already at that address. Verify the address on Base Blockscout before you trade anything.
